- Joined the accounting firm of Appold Mast & Greenwood and became a partner of Laine Appold & Co
- Opened Frankenmuth office in 1975
- Semi-retired on January 1, 2000
Professional Affiliations:
Involvement is the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants included serving on the Nominations Committee, the Continuing Professional Education Committee, the Annual Meeting Committee, chairperson of the Members Insurance Committee, chairperson of the MACPA Eastern Chapter and a director in the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Civic Involvement:
Past member of the Frankenmuth JC's, past president and current member of the Frankenmuth Lions Club (with 50+ years of perfect attendance), a board member of the Frankenmuth Community Foundation, the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce, and the City Beatification Committee. Elected to the Frankenmuth Softball Hall of Fame.
Religious Involvement:
A life-long member of the St. Lorenz Church having been a chairperson on the Board of Finance and treasurer of the congregation. Also served on the Board of Education, the Church Council, the St Lorenz Foundation along with various other committees.
ROSEMARY ZEHNDER profile
A life-long resident of Frankenmuth. Attended St Lorenz School and graduated from Arthur Hill High School. Married Don in 1957. They are blessed with four children - Dean, Drew, Dave and Rochelle, along with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a homemaker and baby sitter for three of her grandchildren. Rosemary is a life-long member of St. Lorenz Church, serving on the St. Lorenz Missionary Guild for many years and other various church committees.
Criteria for Selection:
The W. Don & Rosemary Zehnder Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- The applicant(s) must be a member of the current graduating class of Frankenmuth High School pursuing studies in business. Preference will be given to those with a concentration in accounting.
- The applicant(s) must be planning to attend a college or university full time, and prior to distribution of the scholarship funds must be accepted and enrolled.
- The applicant(s) must demonstrate academic skills by having a grade point higher than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale while taking courses generally regarded as college preparatory.
- The applicant(s) must demonstrate service to his school, church or community through active participation.
- The scholarship(s) will be awarded without regard to sex, race, religion or place of birth.
